Privacy Policy Simplified

Definitions and Preface

Scriptly ("Discord bot", "Scriptly", “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. If you have any questions or concerns about our notice, or our practices with regards to your personal information, please contact us in our support server listed at the bottom of the page.

SCRIPTLY NEVER SAVES TRANSCRIPTION AUDIO OF USERS ON ITS SERVERS FOR ANY GIVEN REASON

SCRIPTLY NEVER STORES MESSAGES SENT WITH TTS AND NEVER STORES CONVERSATION TEXT THROUGH TRANSCRIPTION

When you visit our website https://scriptly.xyz (domain subject to change) and use our services, you trust us with your personal information. We take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy notice, we seek to explain to you in the clearest way possible what information we collect and how we use it. If there are any terms in this privacy notice that you do not agree with, please discontinue use of Scriptly.

This privacy notice applies to all information collected through our Discord bot (aka, Scriptly).

The nature of transcribing multiple individuals creates two dimensions of privacy: That you do not use other speakers' audio without their permission, and that Scriptly does not use any audio without permission. Resolving any privacy concerns between yourself and other speakers is your concern; when you initiate a transcription, voice translation, or any product/command that requires Scriptly to listen to users, you are acting on their behalf in allowing Scriptly access to their audio. Although for technological reasons it is of course Scriptly who may be transcribing you and other speakers, the privacy concerns between you and other speakers are identical to those if you were transcribing them yourself, as it is you who is granted access to the transcription.

While Scriptly makes a concerted effort to keep all data secure, no one can perfectly guarantee the security of any Internet-accessible system. Scriptly cannot be held liable for access to your private information through illegal intrusion, even if it can be construed as a consequence of its negligence

Collected data may be kept indefinitely. Information pertaining to speakers is normally kept only until the relevant transcriptions are no longer needed, but it is sometimes necessary to retain transcriptions and, with them, this information. By using Scriptly, you and any other speakers are granting Scritply's developer(s) an exclusive, non-transferrable license to use your and their data for the purposes outlined above. This does not grant Scriptly or anyone else the right to transfer it intentionally to any other person. When Scriptly retains transcriptions for testing or debugging purposes, to the degree that is possible, it asks you for permission before doing so. Under no circumstances will Scriptly intentionally transfer your or other speakers' data to any other person without explicit permission from you, but it is assumed that you can grant permission for any other speakers in a transcription you initiated.

It is immoral, and in many jurisdictions illegal, to transcript anyone without their permission or knowledge, and Scriptly is designed to make it clear when transcriptions are occurring.

Scriptly reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time. If it changes, it will be announced on Scriptly's support server through Discord (linked at the bottom of the page).

Scriptly is subject to several privacy policies due to the services with which it interacts. These are largely irrelevant to users of Scriptly, as they promise to keep your data private as well. Scriptly is hosted on a server operated by GalaxyGate and thus its own data storage falls under GalaxyGate's clear privacy policy (listed at the bottom of the page). Scriptly also uses MongoDB for additional data storage and thus falls under MongoDB's privacy policy (also listed at the bottom of the page). Scriptly of course interacts with Discord, and is thus only given information on users from Discord under its privacy policy (listed at the bottom of the page)

Data Linked To You:

For the free version of our bot, the first piece of information personally linked to you is what commands you have used. We use this to show the welcome message when you use your first command and thus link you to our privacy policy. We do not store how many times you use a command. We may also store your language or any other customized personal settings if inputted.

Data NOT Linked To You:

We store data relating to your guild (commonly known as a server in Discord). Once again, this data is not linked to individual users. Specifically, we store your guilds prefix and your guilds disabled/enabled commands. We also store your guilds user count and add it into a combined number of users for the bot. Information relating to the combined user count and number of guilds are stored publicly on numerous different services (and within the bot itself) to show statistics for the bot. This information is not linked to anyone specifically and is the only reason why we display this information publicly. We also store your guild ID privately. We use statistics such as user engagement (how many users interacted with the bot on any given day) to enhance our knowledge on how the bot is performing. This information may also be stored publicly. Scriptly stores information such as voice channel IDs and text channel IDs temporarily during transcription. When you stop transcription, this data will be removed automatically but may be kept for additional time for bug fixing or other issues. Any server settings for Scriptly that you modify (a set tts channel, if xsaid is enabled or not, etc) will also be stored. This data can include things like text channel IDs to true or false statements for specific settings.

How long do we store data for?

The above data may be stored indefinitely.

Who do we share data with?

We share statistics such as user-count and server-count with Statcord. No personally indentifiable data is sent to Statcord. You can read their privacy policy and check out their website at the bottom of the page. We may also share data with our transcription/translation/text-to-speech third-party services if our local ones fail for any given reason.

How/where can I contact you if I have concerns about your bot?

You can contact us in our support server (Listed at the bottom of the page).

How can I request that data be removed?

You can message us in our support server to remove your data.
